VideoStage J4 Update?

Hi,

I noticed that VideoStage is listed as "optimized for Joomla 3" and see no reference to a J4 version. Will

this extension eventually be updated for J4 or has it reached EOL? I really like the ambient lighting part

of its function. Thanks!

Yeah this just means that the module is not optimized for J4 - that's not bad - it just means the code-base is J3.

The Module is fully compatible with Joomla 4.

I've recently tested it on 4.3.0.

I just ran into a minor issue so I figured I'd toss it your way for future reference if updating the code becomes

necessary. This module apparently does not like videos using the h.265 compression. It'll only play the audio

portion of MP4's that have been compressed using h.265; video screen is black otherwise. MP4's compressed

in h.264 play just fine. Not a big deal on the whole of it, just figured I'd let you know. I simply converted all of

my videos to h.264 compression and all's good.

VideoStage is using the browsers native <video> integration - which means "it depends" on a users browser / settings / hardware. A Quick Check on can i use shows that the browser support for HEVC / H.265 is complicated / limited: https://caniuse.com/hevc.

As you can see there its not only the browser but also the computer that needs to support it.

Best is to stuck on h.264 for now as you've already done to support as most platforms as possible.
